Comments about PetSafe Comfort-Fit™ Bark Control Collar:

My golden retriever barks non-stop when she is outside. I bought this bark collar to reduce her barking. It worked fine for a few months. My dog still barked, but only once or twice at a time.

The problem is that the collar quit working after about 3 months. Petsafe replaced the collar under warranty, but the replacement also quit working after a few months. Petsafe again replaced the replacement, but again, the collar quite after about 3-4 months. I'm on the 4th collar now, and it recently quit working. The collars seems to last as long as the original battery, but when that battery dies, so does the collar.

I'm ready to move on to a different brand, one that will hopefully outlive the battery.

I purchased a total of 4 collars for my three adorable little yappers. None of my dogs have learned that barking is a no-no, however they did learn not to bark when they had the collar on. I purchased a Petsafe remote bark trainer and it works great, but you have to constantly be ready to push the button when they bark. I found myself often too late, or the remote was in another room. I also purchased the petsafe Nano for little dogs, and even though I kept the collar tight, it failed to give correction at critical times. It is so small, the dogs forget they are wearing it. The comfort fit collar was the most effective. It corrected without failure. When the dog barked more than 3 times the barking ended with a tiny screech/ yelp. The dog didn't seem too upset with the shock, however you know it delivered. This collar is enormous on my 16 lb dogs, but they put up with it without much complaint. When they are napping they learned to position themselves so the collar isn't digging into their necks. Even though it states for dogs over 10 lbs., the collar hangs crooked and is not designed for small dogs. I hope Petsafe has an improved design now. The collar must fastened tightly (one finger between prong and neck) or it won't work. The low battery indicator helps alert me to buy more batteries. In theory, the collar should change their behavior permanently, but such is not the case with my dogs. I've been using the Petsafe collars for 3 years. I buy batteries in bulk to save money. The overall investment is worthwhile and I enjoy not having my cranky 75 year old neighbor 6 houses down, constantly complaining and calling the police on my little angels.

I have 4 dogs and use a product called Fooey and its a really intensely horrible tasting product which stops (completely) any chewing so will work on the collar. (dont get it on your fingers!) Apply once in awhile to ensure it keeps working before the other dogs help the barker remove collar.

Works fine for a month or 2.Very short battery life.Warranty is not lifetime.Want $40 to replace after a year.

I have owned several of these collars (Comfort fit) They keep the dogs from excessive barking. Much better than spray collars. Unfortunately these quit working after 3 months. I am not sure what goes wrong but every unit I have owned goes bad within 3-6 months.

I purchased three comfort fit bark collars that worked great until the dogs chewed them off of each other. I think the rubber collar attrated chewing since they are used to rubber toys. I have never had a problem with them chewing their nylon collars. The collars were not durable and I would recommend it if you have a single dog or if your dogs do not chew things.

I have contacted customer service for replacement collars. It would be nice if a more durable version was available for purchase.
