I purchased the Big Cat Door. The instructions are useless and the product is poorly designed. The plastic parts do not have acceptable tolerance (they don't fit). Don't buy this product unless you like frustration, returning things and you want to replace your door after you cut a hole for this mess of a product.

We used this product in our interior first floor door to our basement so that we can put the litter boxes (4 cats) down in the basement, but keep the "human" door closed. It has worked very well for us in this application, although we never use the locking mechanism, and with the amount of traffic it got, we eventually just took the plastic swing door out. Be careful when installing it in a formed, hollow 6-panel colonial-type door so that the pet door frame sits on the "human" door surfaces that are at the same surface level.

As others have noted, the tunnel portion of the frame does not extend far enough into the door cut-out creating a dirt trap between the inside and outside frames. The swinging door cracked vertically down the middle because my cats run through it full speed sometimes and recently the hinge tab snapped off, so now I'm looking for another pet door.

I bought the Big Cat door as a replacement for a smaller unit because my cat had out grown the other one.It is of very poor design with too many pieces to assemble which makes it very difficult to install. The absence of written instruction is a definite drawback on its installation, and the illustrations so difficult to understand to be almost useless. Installation of the fragile plastic strip for the tunnel is next to impossible.I would not buy one of your products again, and would not recommend your company's products to a friend. All in all its is a very poor product.

We like the cat door, but in the last 5 years or so they stopped installing the felt seal on the door to help seal out the drafts.It would be a nice option.

If installed so the door is to the outside... the door control is also out side. If installed with the control inside, the tunnel is open to the outside allowing the seam to be exposed to the elements.

We have 8 cats to whom we have given access to the great outdoors. After three years of hard use the door cracked. To me this qualifies as durable.

I installed this to let the cat access her litter box in the basement. After about 2 months, the door sticks open letting a draft into the house. Keep your receipt! reliability seems to be lacking

My cats often take a running leap through the door. I have found the flap on the floor numerous times and they have busted 3 flaps beyond repair. The hard plastic seems to snap easily. In addition, the locking mechanism has also snaped out during use. Unfortunately, I already have the hole cut in the door or I would have gone with a vinyl flap.
