I have owned this feeder for about 2 years now. I use it to feed my cat at 6am so I don't have to drag myself out of bed every morning. It has worked consistently and flawlessly since the day I bought it! I haven't had the batteries run out yet, either, but did change them after a year just to be safe they wouldn't die while I was away on vacation.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who would like to use it for the same purposes as I have. It is a bit noisy, but it took maybe a week to adjust and now I don't hear it at all in the mornings. Also, the noise lasts all of about 1.5 seconds.

Programming isn't hard if you actually read the directions. I've found that many of the bad reviews appear to come from user-error, not product error.

Overall this is a very useful, quality product.

We used this feeder for only 13 months before it broke (the electronic controller is stuck in the "manual advance" mode, rendering the feeder useless). This feeder is stupider than most cats, who promptly figure out how to force the feeder around enough to get to the next compartment (many owners on Amazon.com have reported this; we had to mount the feeder on a lazy susan base to prevent our cat from gaining the necessary leverage). This feeder is also rather noisy as it advances (we had to move it to another room, farther away). $50 (or more!) is far too much to pay for a device that barely works and barely lasts a year.

This has worked great for the past year or so for feeding my cat. I have to make sure he gets small portions throughout the day since if I leave food out he eats until he vomits.
This is the 3rd automatic feeder I've bought, and its the only one he couldn't outsmart/break. Unfortunately, a couple days ago it started malfunctioning by spinning continuously forever instead of just rotating one compartment.
