- 05/30/2013 Red Stick Now/Baton Rouge Today - Vote for BREC and Help Improve Burbank Dog Park 09 May 2013 BREC’s Burbank Park Dog Park and the BREC Foundation have been nominated to win a national competition which will fund improvements to the most heavily used dog park in the parish. PetSafe, a leading innovator in pet behavior and lifestyle solutions, is holding its third annual “Bark for Your Park” contest. One city will be awarded $100,000 to build or renovate a dog park and four other finalists will receive $25,000. “BREC is committed to the idea of providing pet owners and their dogs safe, structured places to play, exercise and socialize with other animals,” said BREC Superintendent Carolyn McKnight. “We know these parks are extremely popular and that, like any of our facilities, they need to be continually maintained and improved. Winning this contest would allow us to build a pavilion for our small dog park at Burbank and possibly add a water feature and other amenities,” said McKnight. In order to win the competition, supporters of BREC Dog Parks should go to the PetSafe website at www.petsafe.net/barkforyourpark or visit the PetSafe Facebook page. You can vote one time each day for BREC Dog Parks (listed under ‘Baton Rouge’) on these sites. PetSafe will announce 15 finalists in the Bark for Your Park contest on June 5. These finalists will be asked to produce a video and continue gathering votes for their park. The finalist with the most votes will receive $100,000 and four runner-ups will each receive $25,000. Winners will be announced on July 31.
