With the holidays approaching, we do all sorts of baking for family and friends. But don’t forget the four legged members of the family! This is an easy recipe to make for your dogs, and when going to someone’s house during the season, take some for their dog! You will be welcomed anytime! Here are the ingredients you will need for Fibol’s Peanut Butter cookies:
- 2 Cups Unbleached White Flour
- 1 Tbs Baking Powder
- 1 Cup Peanut Butter
- 1/3 Cup Non Fat Dry Milk
- 1 Cup Water
- 1/2 Cup Oatmeal (regular, not quick cooking)
Preheat oven to 375.
In a bowl combine all ingredients and mix well. If the mixture is too dry, add a bit more water (if you don’t have non fat dry milk, just use 1 Cup of Skim Milk). You want the dough to be a bit moist as it rolls out much better than if dry, and the flour on the board will add to the mixture.
Turn out onto a floured surface and knead. Roll dough 1/4 inch thick and cut into shapes. Use any cookie cutters you have and if you have a dog bone cutter that’s fun too, as sometimes folks think they are “people” cookies!
Re knead the leftover pieces, roll out again and make more! I will usually re knead and roll out twice, maybe three times – then the leftover pieces get baked as they are and the dogs love them anyway!
Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake for 15 – 20 minutes, or until lightly brown. If you have an older dog, you can bake them a little bit less to make a softer cookie.
Cool on a rack, and store in an airtight container, or when cool, frost with melted yogurt chips!
You can also use White Chocolate to frost the cookies with if you cant find yogurt chips as white chocolate has no cocoa content – Don’t use milk or dark chocolate chips!
What treats will you be making for your pets this holiday?
