Why your pet needs a fountain

It is pretty common knowledge that hydration is important to your pet’s health and happiness, but how do you best keep them interested in water and be sure they are drinking enough? Some experts suggest putting multiple water bowls around your house to be sure water is always easily accessible and giving ice cubes as treats. You can also add ice to a water bowl, encouraging your pet to drink while they try to “fish” them out.

Your pet’s body is between 60% and 80% water. Losing just 10% can cause serious health problems. Make sure you pet is getting enough water.

Each of these is great options, but what about when you aren’t home to get the ice cubes? Or, when the water bowl in the bedroom runs out? A pet fountain can remove this maintenance factor and give your pet access to fresh, free flowing water around the clock. Our Drinkwell fountains were created by a veterinarian to encourage water intake and proper hydration in pets.

Many veterinarians and specialists recommend pet fountains because they encourage pets to drink more water. Drinking more water has positive health benefits, including:

  • Preventing UTIs and urinary disease.
  • Promoting healthy kidney function, with elimination of toxins and waste products.
  • Speeding recovery time for sick or injured pets.
  • Helping the body with energy conversion, temperature regulation, and fat metabolism.

With that kind of track record, you shouldn’t be asking yourself why your pet needs a fountain but why don’t they?! If you usually find your cat on your counter drinking from a dripping faucet or your dog chases the sprinkler in the back yard, they will love having fresh, free flowing water of their own to enjoy!

There is a fountain to match every home and budget, so what are you waiting for? Start shopping today!

We have to agree with you there! The fountain is very popular at our house. Now if only you could make a portable one so I could convince Miss Stubborn to drink while we’re hiking…
