PetSafe Acquires Contech, Inc. ScatMat Product Line

Today, Radio Systems Corporation, home of the PetSafe® brand, announced plans to acquire the ScatMat product line from British Columbia-based company Contech, Inc. Contech designs and manufactures animal care and control products and non-toxic pest management systems. Upon completion of the acquisition, the ScatMat product line will continue under the PetSafe flagship brand.

The ScatMat, developed 20 years ago as Contech’s first product line, is an indoor pet training device that can be placed on furniture, in doorways, or on countertops or window sills. It emits a mild static pulse when a pet touches it and it helps to establish out-of-bounds areas. Pets soon learn which parts of the home they should avoid. Used in conjunction with normal training techniques, and surface cleaning (as appropriate for elimination behavior changes) the ScatMat helps to restore harmony in the household.

“We believe our customers will greatly benefit from the addition of this industry leading brand,” said Mike Taylor, Director, Training & Containment Products, PetSafe. “Ultimately, the consumer is the biggest winner by having the broadest possible selection of products to choose from.”
