Radio Systems® Corporation (RSC), an industry leader in the development of innovative pet behavioral, containment and lifestyle products through its PetSafe® Brand, Invisible Fence® Brand and SportDOG Brand®, has announced a new benefit for its non-Tennessee associates. Based on the Tennessee Promise and tnAchieves programs, which provide last-dollar scholarships to graduating Tennessee high school students, the RSC Achieves program will offer the same opportunities to dependents of RSC associates living outside of Tennessee.
“Here in Tennessee, we are extremely fortunate to have programs such as tnAchieves and the Tennessee Promise, which have been enormously successful in creating opportunities that may not have been possible for many high school students,” said Willie Wallace, CEO of Radio Systems Corporation. “RSC believes that continuing improvement in our company, products and ourselves is fundamental to our culture, and this program is just one way to ensure we meet this goal for all of our associates beyond our headquarters here in Tennessee.”
In 2008, RSC Executive Chairman Randy Boyd helped start tnAchieves, which aims to increase higher education opportunities for Tennessee high school students by providing last-dollar scholarships and volunteer mentoring. Boyd’s work with tnAchieves led to the inception of the Tennessee Promise, a program that provides two years of community or technical college tuition-free for graduating high school seniors in Tennessee.
“Since 2009, more than 26,000 students have attended college tuition-free through the tnAchieves and Tennessee Promise programs,” Wallace added. “With the RSC Achieves program, we hope to share the success of these Tennessee-based programs with all of our associates whose dependents are determined to further their education and create more opportunities for themselves in the workforce.”
In order to participate in the RSC Achieves program, students must:
- Partner with a mentor from their community or admitting college to receive guidance through the admission process, as well as throughout the school year
- Complete eight hours of community service for each semester
- Be continuously enrolled in school immediately following high school graduation
- Be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum of 12 hours per semester) at a community college or technical institute
- Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA each semester
The RSC Achieves program will be available beginning in the Fall 2016 semester. In order to apply, eligible dependents must file their FAFSA by March 1 and submit the Student Aid Report (SAR) to tnAchieves by March 15. All admissions and financial aid paperwork must be submitted to the institution of their choice by July 1.
