Compromise is part of daily life. Whether settling a disagreement with our partner or deciding what groceries to buy, we all have to compromise sometimes. But what about those rare moments when we can avoid a compromise and achieve a true win-win? At PetSafe®, those are the moments we live for! We recently surveyed* cat parents across the country to better understand just where in life they’re willing to compromise, where they won’t and where they really just wish they didn’t have to!

Compromises can be tricky

When you live with a person (or a pet!) it’s not always easy to find solutions that work for everyone. Almost five in ten of respondents admitted that they have disagreements with their human housemates at least once a week over chores like cleaning the litter box. We discovered that even finicky felines can actually be easier to get along with than people! Nearly half (44%) of cat parents said it’s easier to compromise with their cats than with the adult people in their lives.

The chore nobody wants

It’s no surprise that cleaning the litter box ranks as one of the least popular household duties, with 4 in 10 cat parents choosing the litter box as their least favorite chore. Likewise, barely a quarter (26%) of participants said they are likely to compromise and take on the hassle of litter box duty.

Natural vs effective

Anyone who has tried to shop for natural options knows that sometimes it can be a tough choice, because natural products are not always as effective as their synthetic or processed counterparts. So we wondered, do cat parents prioritize choosing a natural, non-toxic cat litter or cat litter that is better at controlling odors? It turns out cat parents are split on this difficult decision, with 36% favoring natural options above all else, and 32% who just won’t compromise on odor control. *This random double-opt-in survey of 2,000 American cat owners was commissioned by PetSafe between Feb. 7 and Feb. 11, 2024.
