She is the recipient of the of the Excellence in Journalism and Outstanding Contribution to the Pet Industry Award, a lifetime achievement awarded presented by the American Pet Products Association and an honoree of the Pet Age Women of Influence in the Pet Industry Award.

Sandy has worked with Toyota as a pet safety advisor, American Airlines promoting pet safety in the air and with a variety of companies such as Nestle Purina Pet Care, Merrick Pet Care, WellPet, Worldwise, Sleepypod and many more. She introduced pet video cameras to pet parents for Motorola and traveled nationwide as a pet lifestyle spokesperson for Petco, also introducing a segment on the Weather Channel for the company.
