The World According to Cooper: Home Alone

By Stacie Green, PetSafe Supply Chain Specialist

Hi everyone!! It’s me Cooper. I hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather as much as I am right now. More time at the park is always a good thing for me. This month I want to talk about something that causes me stress. I know I’ve told you all how much I love to go to work every day and how much I love being able to go almost everywhere with my mom. That is what makes me the happiest.

However, there are times that I don’t get to go with my mom. That is when I feel what you humans call stress. I don’t like to be left behind. I don’t understand why I can’t go everywhere that my mom goes. I know deep down that she will always come home, but it is the worst feeling in the world to be home alone. I just never know what I am supposed to do.

She always leaves me with food and fresh cold water and of course, all of my toys that I love so much, but it’s just not the same when she is not there with me. I usually just sit at the door and wait for her. It makes me sad and very nervous. I’m never at home alone for long periods of time, but it feels like forever. I also don’t like it even if I stay with my favorite person at work.

This doesn’t happen often either, sometimes my mom has an appointment or a team meeting that I can’t go to. I know mom will come back, but still, I just miss her. I guess I just don’t like change, at all! I am always reminded that I won’t be left for long and that she will be right back. I know that this is true, but it still makes me sad.

Stacie and Cooper

I would love it if I could go everywhere. My mom tells me that we have to work on me being alright with spending some alone time. This is one lesson that I really don’t want to learn.

I’ve talked to some of my canine co-workers and some of them do not like being left alone either. Some tell me that they tear things up at home sometime so their people really understand how much they don’t like being left home alone. I don’t do that, I always want my mom to be happy to come home to me.

I really just wanted to explain to all of you that your furry kids like their routines and we love being with our people more than anything. I don’t think we will ever like not having you around, but just remember to always let us know that you will come back to us as soon as possible and let us know how much you love us. Well, that’s it for this month. Just remember to be patient with your furry children. Next month, I feel a road trip coming up!! Stay tuned.
